2006 Annual Report

Dear Friends,

Hanging in the left corner of the Women and Families Center's lobby is a picture by Monica Steward titled, "Women Who Look Ahead." It is a fairly unobtrusive piece of art. The women depicted are simply facing the future and all that it holds.  Their gaze is intent, their expressions are open.  The message, should you want to find one, is powerful and clear:
The future is upon us; pay attention.

The WFC not only looks towards the future; we build bridges to it.  With input from numberous stakeholder groups, the Board of Directors and staff of the Center worked throughout 2006 to develop the 2007-2010 Strategic Plan.  This document is the blueprint for the organization's future, guiding us to diversify funding, enhance technology, increase awareness of and access to our programs, and continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of the services we provide.

Moreover, the day to day work of the Women and Families Center is, by its very nature, future oriented:

SACS equips our communities with the tools needed to eliminate sexual violence.
Child Services prepares children to become life-long learners.
In R.E.A.C.H.,youth are given the skills they need to make choices in the “best interest of their future selves.”
Open DOHR offers support and training today for careers that ensure self-sufficiency tomorrow.

Every day we empower our clients to give all to the present while building pathways for themselvesand for posterity.

The future will be. Onward to 2007.

SINCERELY,

ROBYN-JAY BAGE, M.P.A.
Chief Executive Officer

CHERYL RILEY, R.N.
President, Board of Directors
