Position: Education Specialist
Description:

The Open DOHR program serves individuals who are unemployed, underemployed, or lacking the necessary skills to compete in today’s job market. Open DOHR uses a comprehensive approach that focuses on the development of the whole person. Participants build skills and confidence while pursuing full time employment.

The Women and Families Center is seeking an Education Specialist to recruit, assess, train and counsel adults in its Open DOHR Employment Training program.

Additional duties (not limited to):
• Recruit participants through ongoing outreach and promotion
• Conduct participant intakes, and skill and educational assessments
• Facilitate Job Readiness training
• Develop individualized employment and educational plans with participants
• Provide information and referral services to address participant needs
• Maintain confidential case files
• Counsel and support program participants
• Create and maintain community relationships
• Assist Program Director with arrangement of special events, activities and learning opportunities for participants
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with contract guidelines and best practices
• Assist in the preparation of statistical, programmatic and other required reports
• Job development through community outreach and collaboration

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associates degree and/or 2 years of college in a bachelor’s degree program plus 2 years’ experience in educational counseling and/or employment training
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
• Experience with Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) a plus

START DATE:  Immediate
SALARY:  $32,760.00 ($18/hr) + generous benefit package
SCHEDULE:  Monday-Friday, 35 hrs/wk (generally 8:30am-4pm, may require some flexibility in hours scheduled)
