65 hours of instruction (Construction and Building Trades)
80 hours of instruction (GED)
Course Schedule: Daytime/Evening (6 weeks)
All classes are held Monday-Thursday between 12-7PM (except for 3 full day seminars)

Criminal Offenders ages 19-24 who live in South Central CT
Credential(s) Earned:
OSHA “10” Construction Workplace Safety Certificate
Lead Safe Work Practices Certificate
Employment Opportunities:
Prepares graduates for entry level construction and building trades positions
Prepares graduates for paid apprenticeship programs
Right to Work Salary Information:
Unskilled Laborer $9-12/hr
Skilled Apprentice $12-25/hr
Skilled Tradesman $25-40/hr
Description:
This 65 hour training program offers several components including Construction 101, OSHA Construction Workplace Safety, Lead Safe Work Practices and Work Readiness Skills. In addition students who do not possess their diploma or GED can enroll in the Right to Work GED program. This program prepares students for the standardized GED test using a construction focused curriculum. All classes takes place at the Open DOHR training center in Meriden.
In addition to course instruction, students attend regular one-on-one appointments with Open DOHR Employment Specialists. Weekly one-on-one appointments assist clients with managing school, work and family responsibilities while preparing for full time employment.
