Description:
This 125 hour training program is offered in conjunction with Middlesex Community College. Graduates must complete 35 hours of classroom instruction, 65 hours of clinical instruction and 25 hours of career readiness workshops. Classroom instruction takes place on campus at the college in either Meriden or Middletown. Clinical instruction takes place on site at various long term care facilities (nursing homes) in the area. Career readiness workshops are held at the Open DOHR training center in Meriden.
Upon completion on these requirements, students take the State Department of Public Health CNA Licensing Exam. In addition to class and clinical requirements, students attend regular one-on-one appointments with Open DOHR Employment Specialists. Weekly one-on-one appointments assist clients with managing work and family responsibilities while preparing for full time employment in the healthcare setting.
