School Readiness

Dooley Child Development Center is a School Readiness Program.  We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our professional trained and skilled teachers focus on every aspect of early childhood learning and development, which include cognitive, language, gross motor, fine motor, social and self help skills.  Our classroom life is consistently nurturing and filled with learning opportunities for every child.

We believe that positive relationships between children and adults are fundamental to an environment that promotes learning and growth.

We also believe families matter both in terms of influence on their child and as partners with the centers teaching staff, director and agency.  This partnership enhances the quality of children’s experiences.

We provide a solid foundation for the development of skills and knowledge in all aspects of children’s development (social-emotional, language, cognitive and physical) that contribute to children’s future success in school.

WFC Dooley Development Center is a School Readiness Program which is Nationally Accredited (NAEYC – National Association for the Education of Young Children) preschool program.  We offer a diverse environment including English and Spanish speaking teachers.

Our curriculum, Creative Curriculum covers a variety of interest areas with lots of hands on experiences and discovery.  These interest areas are reading, math, science, language, art, problem solving, hand/eye coordination, music and dramatic/social play and teamwork.  We specifically focus on the social and emotional skills children need to succeed in school and in life.  This approach accommodates all children, including those with special needs and second language learners.

Our Center has two beautiful play grounds which address children’s physical and social development.  Our north playground specifically addresses children's physical and social needs.  Whereas, our south playground concentrates on our children's aesthetic (music, drama and art), social and literacy skills.

It is equally important for Women and Families Center to develop children’s health and nutrition awareness, which will lead to a life time of good eating habits and healthy bodies.  We offer nutritious and balanced meals and snacks.  Our food program is guided and monitored by the Connecticut Adult and Child Food Program (CACFP).
